TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 1 Florida State soccer team starts the season at No. 12 South Carolina on Thursday, August 18 at 7 PM before finishing the first week on the road at the University of Georgia on Sunday, August 21 at 1 PM.
The Seminoles return 12 players from last year’s National Championship team, including seven starters from the final game. FSU enters the season ranked No. 1 in the country for the fifth time in program history and the third time in the last four seasons.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SOUTH CAROLINA
Thursday’s meeting between the Seminoles and the Gamecocks will be the third meeting between the two programs. Florida State is 1-0-1 all-time against South Carolina.
The last time the Seminoles and Gamecocks met was with a trip to the College Cup on the line in 2014.
The second-ranked Seminoles defeated No. 18 South Carolina 5-0 to head to their fourth straight College Cup on the way to Florida State’s first National Title in program history.

SERIES HISTORY VS. GEORGIA
Sunday’s meeting between the Seminoles and the Bulldogs marks just the fifth meeting between the two programs. The series is currently tied 2-2, with Florida State winning each of the last two matches.
The two teams have only played once in the 21stSt century with FSU winning 1-0 in 2004. Jez Ratliff scored the game’s only goal for the Seminoles in the 24th minutes with assists from Leah Gallegos and Kelly Rowland.
