SKYHAWK GOLF TO PROUDLY HOST 16TH ANNUAL GROVER PAGE CLASSIC IN JACKSON STARTING MONDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf program will welcome 16 teams and 96 players to Jackson Country Club for the Grover Page Classic, which will run from Monday, Sept. 19 through Tuesday, Sept. 20.

This year’s tournament is the 16thth annual installment of the Grover Page Classic and second straight year that the event will take place in the fall. Last October, the Skyhawks won their third straight and seventh Grover Page Classic championship since 2009 as their score of 852 (-12) was five strokes better than runner-up Tennessee Tech.

Joining UT Martin in this year’s field is Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Murray State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Alabama, SIUE, Southeastern Louisiana, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech. Additionally, three individuals from Middle Tennessee will take part in the tournament.

The 2022 Grover Page Classic is a 54-hole stroke play event that will take place at the par-72, 6,783-yard Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. Following a practice round on Sunday, Sept. 18, the first round tees off with an 8:15 am shotgun start on Monday with Round 2 to follow that afternoon. The third and final round will also be a shotgun start at 8:30 am on Tuesday.

Sunny conditions and seven mile-per hour winds are forecast for both days as Monday’s high will reach 94 degrees with a low of 68. Tuesday’s round calls for a high of 97 degrees and a low of 68.

The Skyhawks opened their 2022-23 campaign last week at the Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. UT Martin finished in 10thth place and was paced by a redshirt sophomore Ethan Raywho carded a 219 (+3) for an 18th-place finish in his first career start.

All 10 Skyhawks will be in action during the Grover Page Classic as the lineup will be set following a qualifier tomorrow. Bryson Morrell boasts a pair of third-place finishes in the event (209, -7 in 2021; 216, E in 2019) and has shot a 68 on three separate occasions in his six career rounds on the course. Jonathan Xoinis (211, -5) placed fifth in the tournament last season while Jacob Uehlein (220, +4) also owns a career top-10 finish in the event, finishing sixth in 2019.
