Considering it is August on the NBA calendar, the league is focused on the upcoming 2022-23 season. As part of that, it’s fun to put together certain types of “teams” to pass the time before the season begins.
Philadelphia 76ers star leader James Harden is one of the best players the game has ever seen. He has accomplished a great deal in his NBA career. Even with some slippage, he still averaged 21 points, 10.5 assists, and 7.1 rebounds as a member of the Sixers after the trade from the Brooklyn Nets.
Due to Harden being left-handed, he headlines the 2022 all-lefty team put together by Marc Stein via his substack:
Even when accounting for the undeniable slippage in his game, Harden remains the most decorated active lefty in the sport and, if he ever wins that elusive championship, should land as No. 2 in the game’s history among lefties behind only the late, great Bill Russell. Shooting 41% from the field and 33.3% on 3-pointers, when combined, accounts for the most inefficient marksmanship in Harden’s career, but there’s no denying that he still averaged 22.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 10.3 assists. That’s rarefied air for lefties or anyone else.
Now that Harden has had a full summer to rest his nagging hamstring injury as well as get some work in, the hope is that he can regain some of his old explosiveness and give the Sixers a big boost heading into the season.
