Sixers’ Joel Embiid receives 4 MVP votes from NBA offseason survey

The Philadelphia 76ers are getting set to begin what they hope will be a successful season which will then lead to a deep postseason run. Training camps around the league are getting set to begin at the end of September and now is the time to get some predictions in.

ESPN conducted their offseason survey where they asked 15 coaches, scouts, and executives a variety of questions to see where they all stand on the pressing questions surrounding the NBA.

One of those questions is the MVP debate where star big man Joel Embiid received four votes, tied with Luka Doncic, while Giannis Antetokounmpo led the voting with five:

Embiid picked up four votes, and was mentioned by several other voters. The 76ers big man is coming off two close MVP finishes behind Jokic, and Philadelphia added players around him and James Harden as the duo eyes a bounce-back season in 2022-23.

“They’ll have a good regular season, and I think people will think he deserves it,” an Eastern Conference executive said of Embiid.

The big fella has thrown Philadelphia on his back whenever the time calls for it, but for Embiid to win the MVP award, he will truly need to be extraordinary as the Sixers look to have a big 2022-23 season.
