Shane Bieber was cruising until it all fell apart in the sixth inning, and the Guardians fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 7-1 Friday night at Progressive Field.

Bieber tossed five efficient innings to open the night, allowing just one run and striking out eight. But in the sixth, he was tagged for three earned runs without recording an out. He was then removed from the game despite throwing only 82 pitches.

Offensively, the Guardians (36-39) were quiet against Brewers (39-36) starter Wade Miley, who threw a no-hitter against Cleveland in 2021 in his last start against the team. While he wasn’t as dominant, he did toss six scoreless innings and allowed only three hits Friday. He’s thrown 16 scoreless innings in a row vs. Cleveland.

Cleveland’s lone run of the night came off the bat of Jose Ramirez, who hit his 12th home run of the season in the seventh inning. It is his 1,238th career hit, passing Dale Mitchell for 15th-most hits in club history.
