Seventy-four players invited to Canadiens training camp

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that 74 players will participate in training camp, which opens on Wednesday, September 21 at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard with physical tests and medical examinations.

The camp will run until Monday, October 10 in preparation for the season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Center on Wednesday, October 12.

The seventy-four (74) players participating in the training camp include 44 forwards, 21 defensemen and nine goaltenders. Forty-seven (47) players have NHL contracts, while 15 players have AHL contracts. Four players were also invited on a tryout basis.

Head coach Martin St-Louis and his staff of Alexandre Burrows, Trevor Letowski, Stéphane Robidas and Éric Raymond will lead practices, games, and on-ice evaluations during camp. The Laval Rocket coaching staff led by head coach Jean-François Houle and assistants Kelly Buchberger, Martin Laperrière and Marco Marciano will be on-site as well.

The team’s preseason schedule features eight games, including two games in the Maritimes as part of Kraft Hockeyville.
