Sentry Tournament Of Champions Tees Off 2023 New Year Of PGA Tour Winners

Aloha to 2023 as the new year tees off in Hawaii for the PGA Tour’s Sentry Tournament of Champions. The field has been expanded to include last year’s PGA Tour winners plus TOUR Championship finalists as top players take aim at the coastal 7,596 yard Plantation Course (Par 73) in Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii. Betting odds, picks to win along with TV and tee times are provided for the opening PGA Tour event.

The course was revamped ahead of the 2020 tournament, and the winning scores have been -14, -25 and a record -34 under par last year by Cam Smith when soft conditions and little wind produced record scores.

World no. 1 Rory McIlroy is not playing, but 39 leading golfers and winners take a shot at the hugely increased prize pool of $15 million with $2.75 million to the winner.

Golf Picks

While the leading favorites of Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele and Tony Finau draw more betting action to win, there are plenty of capable dark horses and long shots. Additional ways to bet and win include playing fantasy golf and FanDuel’s golf props, tournament matchups, top finishing position, first round leader and adjusted odds after each round.

Fanshare Sports notes that Justin Thomas, Sungjae Im, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele and drawing the most buzz and interest in daily fantasy golf with correlated betting interest.

But here are some players and picks to win the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions from leading golf experts, analysts and handicappers.

  • Ben Coley, SportingLife – Sungjae Im, Jordan Spieth, KH Lee (longshot)
  • Jason Sobel, Action Network – Justin Thomas, Russell Henley (longshot)
  • Rob Bolton, PGA Tour (Power Rankings) – Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele
  • Sal Johnson, Golf Stats – Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas
  • Johnny Covers, OddsChecker – Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Hideki Matsuyama (longshot)

I like Xander Schauffele’s game and proven performance at the course and event, along with Sungjae Im’s continued rise and affinity to the course and conditions in his two trips to the luxurious Plantation Resort in Kapalua.

You can bet on it.
