Ceddanne Rafaela drove in a season-high four runs, and the WooSox turned the first triple play in franchise history as Worcester topped the host RailRiders, 11-5, on Wednesday,
With runners on first and second and nobody out, third baseman Bobby Dalbec scooped up a grounder from Michael Hermosillo and stepped on third to force out Jake Lamb. Dalbec threw to Nick Sogard at second to retire Jamie Westbrook, and Sogard fired to first to get Hermosillo.
It was the first triple play turned by a Red Sox Triple-A affiliate since the Pawtucket Red Sox turned a triple play on April 22, 2018, against the Gwinnett Stripers.
Rafaela gave the WooSox a 4-0 lead in the fourth with a two-run double down the third base line. The prospect has reached base in 15 straight games for Worcester and has hit safely in eight games in a row.
Worcester put the game away with six runs in the eighth, highlighted by a trio of bases loaded walks to Narciso Crook, David Hamilton and Sogard before Rafaela added a two-run single.
Kyle Barraclough picked up his fifth win in his fifth start for the WooSox. The right-hander turned in his third quality start, throwing six innings and allowing three runs on four hits, while walking three and striking out two.
