The second KSA qualifier for the “Race to Georgia” regional amateur golf series – powered by Reza Hygiene – was held at Riyadh Golf Club on Friday, Dec. 1, 2022.
The course was in immaculate condition, having just hosted the Mena tour earlier in the week, and attracted a field of 84 players for an 8am shotgun start. Players were competing for two qualifier positions to the “Race to Georgia” Grand Regional Finale, hosted at The Montgomerie Golf Club in Dubai on 25 February 2022. The top 2 players from the Grand Regional Finale will qualify to play in the world finals to be played in Augusta, Georgia during April’s ‘Masters week’, with the opportunity to attend the Major golf tournament as patrons.
The Riyadh Golf Club qualifier was very closely contested with players scoring well despite the 75% handicap adjustment. After all scorecards were submitted, 2nd placed Avinash Pangarkar, 36 points and winner Benjamin Blackaby, 38 points, walked away with the honors as qualifiers for the Grand Regional Finale. Several other players were rewarded for the 6 side contests, with great prizes donated by Reza Hygiene, Rezaroma, Dyson, EMAAR Hospitality and Papa Johns Pizza.
All involved were in agreement that the organizational and operational support received from the Golf Saudi team were invaluable in making the day a massive success with champion of the day, Benjamin Blackaby saying: ‘I just want to say thank you to Reza Hygiene and Rezaroma for a wonderful event here at Riyadh Golf Club. Thank you to all Riyadh Golf Club staff members, the green keepers and to everyone who participated today.
This was the 6th of 19 regional qualifying events – powered by Reza Hygiene – to take place across KSA, UAE and Bahrain. Further qualifiers in KSA will take place on 20 January 2023 at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, 27 January 2023 at the Rolling Hills Golf Club, and 28 January 2023 at Nofa Golf Resort.
