scores, results, highlights, Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons, DJ Moore, video

The Carolina Panthers had a chance to go to the top of the NFC South with a win over the Atlanta Falcons. Instead, they ended Monday (AEDT) at the bottom of the division after a game that left NFL fans in disbelief.

In the end, it ended with a Falcons field goal in overtime that sealed a 37-34 win and sent Atlanta to the top of the division.

But it was the way in which the game got to that moment that made almost no sense at all.

Down 34-28 in regulation, with 23 seconds on the clock, it was the Panthers who found a miracle as PJ Walker connected with DJ Moore downfield for a 62-yard touchdown to tie the game.

Moore, after a season from hell, celebrated wildly; taking off his helmet after putting his team in position to win a game that looked lost. Of course, the wide receiver’s helmet removal led to a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct and Carolina’s extra point attempt was moved back 15 yards.

With a win on the line, Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro pushed it wide, and the two NFC South sides went to overtime.

In overtime, Carolina once again put Pineiro in position to win the game after picking off Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota. This time, a 32-yard field goal went wide left from Pineiro.

Up the field Mariota and the Falcons went, with Younghoe Koo making no mistake to kick Atlanta to the win, and the division lead.

Fans, and others with a vested interest, could not believe what they were watching…

JETS QB’S PATRIOTS NIGHTMARE CONTINUES

The Jets asked fans to arrive at MetLife Stadium early for their game against the Patriots. But they did not give them a reason to stay late.

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson threw three interceptions, John Frankin-Myers committed a critical penalty and Gang Green blew a halftime lead in a 22-17 loss to the Patriots. It was New England’s 13th straight win over the Jets and ended a four-game winning streak for the Jets.

Wilson started off strong but then became a turnover machine. Wilson had gone three consecutive games without a turnover but gave the Patriots three of them. In their first game without running back Breece Hall, the Jets struggled to move the ball.

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was not much better than Wilson, but New England played ball control in the second half and erased a 10-3 Jets lead with 19 unanswered points. Jones completed 24 of 35 passes for 194 yards with a touchdown and one interception. Wilson completed 20 of 41 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns, but also three interceptions.

Former Jets kicker Nick Folk booted five field goals for the Pats.

The Jets fell to 5-3 and the Patriots moved to 4-4. The Jets have another big AFC East game next week against the Bills.
