Scarlet Nexus, the Bandai Namco action-RPG, goes free to play for a limited time, so gamers who haven’t tried it shouldn’t miss this chance.
Scarlet Nexus is getting a free weekend for those who game on PC. In addition to the opportunity to try out the game for free, players who enjoy it can pick it up at a discount.
Scarlet Nexus is a third-person action-RPG that released back in 2021 from Bandai Namco and saw some success, with the game selling over a million copies within a year’s time. Described as a “brain punk” game, the game revolves around dual protagonists who engage in combat using standard weaponry as well as telekenesis.
While many have already tried out Scarlet Nexus, for those who haven’t, now is a great time to do so. PC players using Steam can access the game immediately, and it will remain free through the end of the weekend. There are no limitations on the free trial, so players can potentially reach the end of the game if they devote enough time to it.
For anyone who doesn’t finish the game or wants to add it to their personal collection, the standard release, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition can all be purchased for 75% off, ranging in total cost from $14.99 to $24.99. However, the base game and Ultimate Edition sale will run though February 2, while the Deluxe Edition is only on discount through the end of January. The additional content packs for the game are also on sale, including Scarlet Nexus‘s season pass.
Scarlet Nexus received generally good reviews at launch, and was nominated for best RPG at the Game Awards in 2021. Bandai Namco seemingly expected the game to be a success, as an anime adaptation began development before the game released, which aired later in 2021. There has ‘t been any word of a Scarlet Nexus 2 in the works, but the game’s director has discussed some ideas that could end up appearing in a sequel in the event that it gets one.
While Steam doesn’t offer a game subscription service like Xbox Game Pass and doesn’t give away free games every month like the Epic Games Store, it does occasionally have free play weekends like this one. While this opportunity and the game’s discounts shouldn’t be missed by anyone looking for an action RPG to play over the weekend, the recent Steam Lunar New Year sale may mean many players are already engaged in a new purchase.
While Scarlet Nexus‘s future is unknown at this time, this sale will likely spark new interest among those who have yet to play it. That, combined with its prior sales success, may be enough of a nudge for Bandai Namco to greenlight a sequel.
Scarlet Nexus is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
