American Brian Harman has sole possession of the lead at the British Open entering Saturday’s third round.
Harman got off to a good start Friday in the second round at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England, by registering four birdies in the first five holes. He finished even better by sinking an eagle on hole No. 18 to bring him to 6-under-par on the day and 10-under-par for the tournament through 36-holes.
That matches a 36-hole record set by Tiger Woods in 2006 and Rory McIlroy in 2014 at the British Open, the fourth and final major tournament of the year. Both Woods and McIlroy went on to win that year. Can Harman?

Harman has UK favorite Tommy Fleetwood on his heels. The Englishman is in second place at 5-under-par for the tournament. He’s aiming to become the first English golfer to win a British Open since Nick Faldo in 1992 and the first Englishman to win a British Open on English soil since Tony Jacklin in 1969.
