Santa Cruz shoots past Salt Lake City Stars

Lester Quinones scored 24 points and Jerome Robinson scored 23, as the Santa Cruz Warriors beat the Salt Lake City Stars 120-104 in the teams’ NBA G League game in front of 1,251 fans at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City on Monday.

The teams square off again Tuesday in Utah at 6 pm

Center James Wiseman posted his second double-double in as many games with Santa Cruz (3-4). He finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Wiseman scored seven points in the first quarter, helping Santa Cruz jump out to a 40-24 lead. His first field goal came on a dunk, and he also scored the final five points in the final 32 seconds of the stanza, throwing down another dunk and draining a 3-pointer.

The Warriors shot 57% from the field (46 of 80) and 53% (14 of 26) from beyond the arc. Quinones and Zeke Moore each drained four 3-pointers.

Santa Cruz’s Trevion Williams had 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Dusty Hannahs made three 3s and finished with 17 points, and Moore scored 16.

Quinones and Robinson each had six rebounds.

Forward Paris Bass had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the Stars (2-4). Guard Ochai Agbaji scored 20 points and forward Micah Potter added 15 points.
