Sam Kerr quokka selfie: Soccer superstar poses for Rottnest Island snap

  • by

Less soccer, more quokka.

That appears to be the summer mantra for Matildas superstar Sam Kerr, who became the latest big-name celebrity to pose with one of Rottnest Island’s furry creatures on a trip home to WA.

The Chelsea striker posted the image to her Instagram, which boasts more than one million followers, on Friday.

Kerr was joined on the trip – sponsored by Tourism WA – by her girlfriend, US Soccer star Kristie Mewis.

“Ur still cuter,” Mewis commented on the post, adding “A dayyyy” with a heart emoji.

It appears the pair chose to forego a ride on the ferry, with Kerr posting an Instagram story of the holiday destination from the air.

“Rottnest Island from above. Dreaaaamy,” the post’s caption read.

The 29-year-old was also spotted spending some downtime on the water, enjoying a picturesque afternoon on a boat with a group of friends.

Kerr is just the latest celebrity sighting on Rottnest this week after with famous faces from across the country opting to visit the island.

Australian comedian Hamish Blake was spotted enjoying the island by land and by boat, snapping a quokka selfie of himself.

While he kept his trip under wraps on his own social media accounts, Blake’s cover was blown by Brownlow Medalist Tom Mitchell.

The Collingwood recruit posted Blake’s selfie, as well as images of himself and friends basking in the Perth sun, on his Instagram account on Thursday.

“Rotto debut ft a Quokka and a dash of sunburn,” he captioned the post.
