Mondesi has had many injuries and can’t seem to stay healthy BUT he’s light years better than a bum like Kiki Hernandez.
I don’t compliment Bloom very often because his track record is abysmal but this is an outstanding move on his part IF dummy Cora figures out he’s the SS they need AND he bats in front of Yoshida at the top of the order. Mondesi can steal bases when he gets on and he can score from first base on a double by Yoshida.
Honestly, this is the most excited I’ve been over a move by Bloom.since he arrived. Mondesi can be the SS of the future if he stays healthy. Mayer could move to 3B and finally fix the Devers problem if he can hit at a major league level.
This could have a huge impact on WINS (JoeBrady)!! If Mondesi can stay healthy and if Yoshida can hit MLB pitching then the top of the order with Mondesi, Yoshida and Devers becomes significantly better than one with the slug Hernandez at the top.
I have always evaluated Bloom deals for what they are worth and I want to give him credit on this one because Mondesi has an enormous upside potential compared to what Boston gave up. It should also motivate Cora to put Kiki where he belongs at the bottom of the order and playing the outfield.
