It’s not quite as shocking as the five interceptions that Jimmy Garoppolo threw during a practice in 2019, but it was reportedly still a rough outing for second-year quarterback Trey Lance. He tossed three interceptions, per multiple reports. One landed in safety Talanoa Hufanga’s hands after a tip by cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, who returned to practice today. Then Moseley hauled in a misguided Lance pass. Finally, linebacker Fred Warner got his hands on the last interception.
Emmanuel Moseley returned to 49ers practice today and caught fire immediately. Tipped an INT to Talanoa Hufanga, then picked off Trey Lance himself and then covered Aiyuk well on a deep shot.
Lance threw 3 INTs (last one was to Fred Warner). 9-16

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area adds that all the interceptions came on passes intended for wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
It was a rough practice for Trey Lance. He was picked off three times — all on passes intended for Deebo Samuel. Talanoa Hufanga and Emmanuel Moseley had interceptions off deflections. Fred Warner also had an INT.

Lance has not thrown a pass since last Thursday’s joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings. The 22-year-old quarterback didn’t suit up during this past weekend’s preseason game against the Vikings.
Trey Lance? Not a good practice for him. He threw three picks, all of them intended for Deebo Samuel. In his defence, it seemed as if Samuel should have caught one of them. QB heated up towards end with good throws to Aiyuk and Kittle.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan plans to play Lance, along with most of the starters, during Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Houston Texans. The 49ers have one more practice scheduled for tomorrow before traveling for that game.
