It’s a week until the MLB All-Star Game, but Ronald Acuña Jr. is already making history this season.
The Atlanta Braves outfielder stole his 40th base of the season on Monday during a game against the Cleveland Guardians. He’s now the only player in MLB history with 20-plus home runs, 40-plus stolen bases and 50-plus RBI before the All-Star break, according to the league.
In the middle of the third inning, he got on base with a single. When Ozzie Albies was up to bat, he sprinted for second base and slid head first into second base. He seemingly injured his shoulder on the play and sat in the dirt while coaches tended to him. He remained in the game.
He now has 21 home runs, 40 stolen bases and 54 RBI on the season.
