CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Improvements are being added to the Gabe Lozano Golf Center.
It’s one of two municipal golf courses in the Corpus Christi area.
On Tuesday the city approved the $4.36 million project, which includes remodeling 41 acres to the executive nine-hole course, a practice range and an additional 10,000 square foot practice green.
In addition, a new lighting system will be added to the executive course and it will be getting a special name “The Firefly.”
This will encourage golfers to enjoy the course at night if they’re interested.
“The lighting project is a major effort. We’re going to light 41 acres of property. That’s way more than parking lots. It’s way more than athletic fields at schools,” Edward Miller, Foresight Golf, Chief Operating Servant said.

Along with the improvements, the golf center will add a drainage system to help with flooding in low-lying areas.
With what’s to come some golfers look forward
to bring their families along with them.
“Yes, I’m very excited now that they’re going to have night golf on the executive course, that’s going to make it available for people that cannot come out during the day, especially like my wife, she says she wants to play at night now,” golfer Rick Salinas, said.
Foresight golf company is assisting with the development and said the goal is to add something to the course that everyone can enjoy.
“The city of Corpus Christi is going to really receive a really great gift. It’s going to be awesome, specifically for families and newer, younger, fun golfers. It’s going to be a great time,” golfer, Linda Lindsey said.
As a “state of the art” practice facility, Lozano golf center said it thrives in becoming a true golfing destination.
Construction is expected to be completed by Sept. 2023.
