The Chicago Blackhawks today announced the team has agreed to terms with forward Cole Guttman on a two-year entry-level contract that runs through the 2023-24 season ($950,000 salary cap hit).
Guttman, 23, set career highs in goals (19), assists (26) and points (45) during the 2021-22 campaign in his senior year with the University of Denver (National Collegiate Hockey Conference), sharing second on the team in Assists and ranked third in goals and points. Serving as captain last season, Guttman led the Denver Pioneers to their ninth national championship, tying the NCAA record.
“Cole’s game has progressed during his time with the University of Denver and we’re looking forward to continuing that development within our organization,” said Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson. “Captain his team to a championship last season demonstrates his leadership and commitment on the ice, and those are qualities we’re always looking for in our players.”
During his time with Denver, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward collected 121 points (55G, 66A) in 140 career games. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round, 180th overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft.
