ANAHEIM — Jonatan Berggren scored his first career NHL goal, but the Red Wings fell, 3-2, in overtime to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night at the Honda Center.
Berggren’s opened the game’s scoring on the power play at 7:12 in the first period, giving the Red Wings an early 1-0 advantage.
“It was fun to score my first NHL goal,” said Berggren, who was recalled from the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins last Thursday. “It was an unreal feeling when I saw the puck go in.”
The Ducks responded with a power-play goal later in the opening frame, then Michael Rasmussen‘s second-period tally put Detroit ahead, 2-1, heading into the final period. Anaheim tied it, 2-2, with 47 seconds left in regulation, then netted the game-winner in the final minute of overtime.
“It stings right now,” the captain Dylan Larkin said. “(John) Gibson played really well. (Ville) Husso played well. Just a 2-2 game, we gotta find a way on one of those power plays to go out and finish the game.”
Ville Husso made 26 saves for the Red Wings (7-5-4; 18 points), who have lost four straight contests.
Jake Wallman made his season debut on Tuesday, recording a plus-1 rating in 13:29 of ice time. Tyler Bertuzziwho had missed the previous 13 games due to an upper-body injury, logged three shots in 18:39 of ice time.
NEXT UP: Detroit will play the third game of its four-game road trip on Thursday night, battling the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.

When the Red Wings struck first Lucas Raymond‘s feed went to Filip Hronek, whose shot hit Colton White in the head and bounced in front of Anaheim’s crease. Berggren quickly pounced on the loose puck, finding the back of the net on the man advantage.

Mason McTavish converted a rebound in the slot on the Ducks’ first power play of the night.
Detroit 2, Anaheim 1 (19:25, 2nd period)
David Perron‘s backhanded pass from below Anaheim’s goal line found Rasmussen, who skated behind the net and into the left faceoff circle. After shielding the puck from multiple Anaheim defensemen, Rasmussen spun and fired a shot past Ducks goalie John Gibson for his second goal of the season. Oskar Sundqvist also recorded an assist on Rasmussen’s play.

Anaheim 2, Detroit 2 (19:13, 3rd period)
John Klingberg, assisted by Cam Fowler and Trevor Zegras, sent a shot through traffic that beat Husso, sending the game into overtime.
Anaheim 3, Detroit 2 (4:10, Overtime)
Ryan Strome recorded the overtime game-winner for his fifth goal of the season.
