Bishop’s Stortford’s O2 shop was closed on Wednesday (November 15) following “significant” criminal damage inside.
A notice on the door tells customers the South Street branch is a crime scene and remains shut until further notice.
The interior of the outlet – which sells mobile phones, contracts, broadband and accessories – is in disarray after an incident involving two men in which a mobile was stolen.
A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Police were called just after 12pm on Tuesday November 15 following an incident at the O2 shop in South Street, Bishop’s Stortford.
“It was reported that two males had entered the shop and caused significant criminal damage before making off with a mobile phone from a display. Inquiries are continuing at this time, including a review of CCTV.”
The Indie understands the police were called to the shop by staff in a nearby business who spotted the crime unfolding.
Anyone with information about what happened can call 101, report it online at herts.police.uk/report or speak to an operator in the force communications room via online webchat at herts.police.uk/contact, quoting crime reference 41/92668/ 22
