According to a ToI report, the app partners with local restaurants, hotels and businesses to provide safe toilets for women with amenities.
The startup already maintains 1,500 facilities in Mumbai, including breastfeeding and diaper changing stations, toilets and a power room at Ghatkopar Metro Station to purchase sanitary products, 400 restrooms in Ahmedabad and 600-700 restrooms in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru, among other cities.
Talking about the idea to start this app, co-founder Manish Kelshikar said, “A man cannot properly understand the agony of women until he becomes a father. When my daughter had a tough time locating a toilet to change her sanitary pad, she inspired me to come up with a solution – which brought the idea of Woloo – where users can download the app, add their location and find clean toilets within a radius of 2km.”
The app currently has 13,000 toilets in 11 cities in India. It plans to increase the number to 35,000 in the next few months. The app also works in Singapore as well. It has 30,000 toilets on board in Singapore. The start up plans to launch the service in other countries as well.
