CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—108 holes. That’s on the docket for next week. It starts Monday with the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville and ends at the Mason Rudolph Championships in suburban Nashville on Sunday. These are two historically good early tests for Mocs squads.
“Both are events that we won’t say no to even with the challenges presented back-to-back,” said Coach Colette Murray. “The fields are very strong, and the opportunity to play against the best teams in the country is why we do what we do.”
But it all starts in Knoxville. The Mercedes-Benz begins with a 36-hole grind on Monday followed by a final 18 on Tuesday. Cherokee Country Club is the host. It’s a place senior Dorota Zalewska knows well.
She tied for second in last year’s event leading the Mocs to a tie for third. Both were the best finishes for the program in 11 visits. Zalewska shot 2 under a year ago and started 2022 even better. His 7-under 209 at the Green Wave Fall Classic last week is the lowest season-opening tally in school history and second lowest by par overall by Moc.
She’s joined in the lineup by Beatriz Barrios, Megan Docherty, Kera Healey spirit Isabella Yu Lee. Barrios shot level-par 216 in the opener. She and Zalewska earned automatic qualification for this lineup, while the trio of Docherty, Healey and Yu Lee earned their way in via Friday’s qualifier at Council Fire.
Monday’s 36-hole day is an 8:30 am, shotgun start. Pairings, when available are linked above.
