Saving The Best For Last: 28 teams have opened their preseason schedule and tonight it’s finally the Canes’ turn. The roster has been split into two groups since Thursday, each practicing five times leading up to today’s contest.
Fresh Faces: Eight players – Dylan Coghlan, Paul Stastny, Malte StromwallPatrik Hamrla, Lane Pederson, Alexander PashinGriffin Mendel and Anthony Honka – In tonight’s lineup for Carolina will be playing preseason action in a Canes sweater for the first time.
Got A New Number: Several returning Canes players elected to make number changes this summer, but only one will be in the lineup tonight. Jalen Chatfieldformerly #64, will now be wearing #5 on his sweater this season.
Schedule Alert: Monday afternoon the Lightning announced that due to the potential impact of Hurricane Ian that Wednesday’s preseason contest set to take place at AMALIE Arena between the two teams has been postponed. Information on a potential make up date will be announced at a later date.
