Lacie Poll scored the lone goal assisted by Ashlynn Noss as Morgan High girls soccer beat Ogden 1-0 on Monday in Morgan.
The game was a rematch of last year’s 3A state title game, as well as a rematch between the two teams that split the Region 13 championship in 2021.
Madison Wangsgard made 15 saves in keeping the shutout for the Trojans (9-2, 4-0 Region 13).
Ogden (7-4, 3-1) and Morgan will face off again on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 p.m
BEN LOMOND 6, SOUTH SUMMIT 0
Ben Lomond put four first-half goals past South Summit in a regional win on Monday.
Alex Chadwick scored twice for Ben Lomond (2-9, 2-2 Region 13). Melanie Solis, Autumn Rodriguez, Shakira Nolasco and Sophie Peterson scored one goal each.
Nolasco assisted two goals, while Adi Gil and Ariana Liptrap assisted one goal each.
1ST FOOTBALL RPI STANDINGS REVEALED
The UHSAA released its first football RPI standings of the season for prep football on Monday. RPI standings are used to seed the state tournaments.
Of the area 6A schools, Farmington leads the pack at No. 5, followed by Davis (No. 8), Layton (13), Syracuse (16), Roy (18), Fremont (19), Weber (22) and Clearfield (25).
In 5A, unbeaten Bonneville is No. 5, followed by Bountiful (No. 9), Box Elder (10), Viewmont (14) and Northridge (27).
Morgan is no. 2 in 3A, Ben Lomond is No. 4 and Ogden is No. 8 out of 12 teams. Bear River is no. 12 out of 13 teams in 4A and Layton Christian is No. 1 in 1A.
A team’s RPI score is calculated using its winning percentage, its combined opponent winning percentage and its opponents’ combined winning percentage, all of which are slightly adjusted depending on the classification of the teams played.
PREP VOLLEYBALL
BOUNTIFUL VOLLEYBALL WINS ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONS CLASSIC
The Bountiful High volleyball team won the Rocky Mountain Champions Classic tournament on Saturday, hosted by Lehi and American High.
BHS beat Westlake, Delta and Springville 2-0 in pool play. The Redhawks beat Skyline 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-16) in the semifinals and then Maple Mountain in the finals 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 26-24).
DAVIS GOES 5-1 AT RIDGELINE TOURNAMENT
Davis High’s volleyball team went 5-1 at the Ridgeline High tournament over the weekend. The Darts beat Murray 2-1, Roy 2-0, Box Elder 2-0, Mountain Crest 3-0 and Weber 3-2, while losing 3-0 to host Ridgeline.
Box Elder went 4-2 overall at the tournament, losing to Davis and Ridgeline. Weber went 3-3 and Roy went 0-6.
