A Nashville Predators legend and a Nashville Predators captain will be reunited next week.
Retired Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne, whose statue stands in front of Bridgestone Arena and whose retired No. 35 hangs from the rafters inside the building, will join former teammate and current Predators captain Roman Josi on the NHL Draft stage Wednesday night.
There the two will announce the Predators’ second pick of the first round, which is currently the 24th pick. The team also has the 15th pick, and 13 picks overall in the draft.
Rinne is also scheduled to be a presenter at the NHL Awards on Monday night at Bridgestone Arena. The awards will be hosted by country music star and hockey enthusiast Dierks Bentley.
The first round of the draft will be held Wednesday night at Bridgestone. Rounds 2-7 will follow on Thursday.
Rinne, who in 2018 won the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goalie, and Josi, who in 2020 won the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman, are the only two players in franchise history to win a major NHL award. The two played 10 seasons together with the Predators.
