Popular Greystones golf classic raised over €8,000 for cancer charity

  • by

The organizers of the Two Marys’ memorial golf classic say it has now become one of the largest participating charity golfing events in Leinster.

he charity event was set up by family and friends in memory of the two Marys, namely, Mary Nolan and her daughter, Mary Bradshaw in 2003.

Both suffered from cancer and died within one week of each other.

Following a two-year absence due to Covid, a record entry of 50 teams topped off an outstanding day at the 18th annual golf charity event in Delgany Golf Club in July this year.

The format of the competition for this year was two shotgun starts, with a four-person scramble team event.

The day proved to be an outstanding success with 200 people representing 50 teams taking part.

The winning team were Tom Bradshaw, Mark Behan, Sean O’Toole and Peadar O’Toole.

The total amount raised was €8,130, with the proceeds going to Greystones and District Cancer Support.

The Two Marys event has now raised over €88,000 for Greystones Cancer Support since it began.

The organizers are grateful for the generous support of the golfers and sponsors, especially Greystones Nursing Home and Delgany Golf Club for their support.
