Photo of groom working on laptop during his wedding goes viral, internet isn’t impressed

Working from home, a culture that became the norm since the Covid-19 pandemic, gives freedom to employees as they customize their work environment as per their needs.
Remote work preferences are high among employees engaged in the BPO/IT/tech sector, especially women BPO workers Among IT and BPO employees, 41 per cent prefer fully remote work and only 51 per cent said they are open to hybrid and just 3 per cent said they don’t want to work from home.
Although a preferred option for those looking to skip traffic on roads, it also has its downsides. The fact that companies take advantage of the employees and exploit them by making them do overtime, while they work from home, isn’t something to be taken lightly.
Recently, a photo of a groomworking on a laptop, while sitting on his mandap in wedding attire, took the internet by surprise.

The photo posted by an Instagram handle named ‘Calcutta’ shows a wedding taking place in the city of Kolkata where the groom is seated in the mandap, holding a laptop and working on it as the priest and other wedding guests look on.
Captioned as “When ‘work from home’ stretches you to the next level”, the picture has received close to 11,000 likes. Naturally, it was relatable to many and didn’t go down well with some.
While many were amused looking at the photo, for others, the fact that he wasn’t granted leave on his big day or the fact that he was too workaholic was too much to digest.
“Jokes aside, this is super toxic,” commented a user.
“I don’t find this funny. No organization asks an employee to work on their wedding days, this person needs to get a life and learn work life balance if this is really true and not staged! God bless the woman he’s marrying,” another user wrote.
