Tracking with news on the Boston Celtics’ offseason plans elsewhere, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer is reporting that the Phoenix Suns are targeting Malcolm Brogdon as an option to upgrade their backcourt via trade. However, “Brogdon … has registered interest during trade talks with Boston” dating to the last trade deadline, according to the Yahoo Sports reporter.
Boston is considered active in pre-draft trade talks by rival front offices … (and) is considered active in pre-draft trade talks by rival front offices” notes Fischer, echoing reporting from MassLive’s Brian Robb and Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes. However, Phoenix would need to find a third party to take back Chris Paul’s salary in any deal with the Celtics.
“Boston is of the belief that Danilo Gallinari … can provide a crucial lift next year” once back from a torn ACL, per the reporter, particularly if restricted free agent Grant Williams departs in free agency.
“Brogdon’s name has been mentioned most among league executives this past week,” relates Fischer, and Derrick White “has been described by opposing personnel as the least likely of Boston’s guards to be moved this offseason, particularly after a stellar playoff run.”
