Pro Football Focus thinks the Buffalo Bills might be moving on from Tremaine Edmunds.
Of the Bills’ top pending free agents, Edmunds is one that’s either at the top of the list or right near it. His rookie contract has expired and Buffalo is expected to be tight against the salary cap this offseason.
That might make it difficult to keep everyone, including Edmunds.
In an early 2023 NFL draft mock, PFF predicts Edmunds is gone. With the Bills’ top selection in Round 1, Buffalo goes for an Edmunds replacement which ends up being Trenton Simpson from Clemson.
The Bills hold the No. 27 overall selection in the first round of the draft and Simpson is a player that is projected by the football analytics outlet to be taken around that time. On their big board, Simpson is the 29th rated prospect.
Simpson, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defender is known for his ability to move on the field similar to Edmunds. A junior, Simpson saw his stats go down in 2022 with just 2.5 sacks and four tackles for loss. The year before, Simpson was an animal, notching 6.5 sacks and 12.5 sacks.
PFF seems to be convinced the Bills want to move on from Edmunds in their analysis, but time will tell. Considering his age (24) Edmunds is a player Buffalo would love to keep around over other aging free agents such as safety Jordan Poyer.
Both are important, but age matters.

Tremaine Edmunds is a pending free agent and the Bills appear ready to move on. Simpson is smaller than Edmunds, but he does have great sideline-to-sideline speed. He’s also shown the ability to play in space and cover, which Buffalo needs in the middle of its defense.
