BIRD — Woolrich Park will be under the care of Pine Creek Township.
This comes after Clinton County secured the deed from Woolrich Beneficial which owned the Woolrich Park.
Solicitors for both the county and Pine Creek Township put together a land donation agreement that was signed by the supervisors at Wednesday’s monthly meeting.
“The beneficial has been very gracious – I can’t speak kindly enough about them,” said commissioner Angela Harding. “They met us all at the park, gave us all of the reservation information so that the township and the rec committee can continue to keep things status quo. They donated all of their equipment — some of it new equipment — to the township and the county for maintenance.”
“We appreciate the fact that the township is willing to do this and keep it a park,” said commissioner Jeff Snyder.
The park – which features a playground and ball fields – was briefly owned by the county before the transfer could be made during this November meeting.
Woolrich Park will now be owned and operated by Pine Creek Township, where it will continue to exist in Clinton County for the community to enjoy.
Harding said in a previous meeting that Pine Creek will have the manpower and ability to maintain the park.
“One thing to note is that should Pine Creek Township not be able to take care of the park or if something should happen down the road, it is in the land transfer agreement that the county would take ownership of the park back so that we can continue to make sure that it remains a park here in Clinton County for as long as it can,” said Harding.
The township is currently working on putting together a Park and Recreation committee.
In other business the supervisors discussed:
– Approval for payment to the contractor for the Dutch Hollow bridge project – the cost of which was fully covered by the grant they applied for previously, with money left over.
– The preliminary 2023 budget was approved by the supervisors.
– The Comcast franchise agreement was renewed.
– Generators for backup power for the township building and police building.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday Dec. 7 at 7 pm at the Pine Creek Township Municipal Building, 31 Municipal Drive, in Avis.
