Artemi Panarin is wearing his sense of humor on his chest.
The New York Rangers forward rocked a T-shirt that featured a picture from his infamous congratulations video message Jacob Trouba after Trouba was named captain.
“Jacob, Jacob! Congratulations, buddy. Happy for you, but I still think I’m the better choice,” Panarin joked in a video posted to the Rangers Twitter account in August.
The shirt features a red, white and blue drawing of Panarin holding up the love sign language gesture with part of the quote from the video in a speech bubble.
Panarin wore the T-shirt during the Rangers media availability on Saturday.
When asked why Trouba was the correct choice as a captain, Panarin joked it was because he [Panarin] does not speak English.
All jokes aside, Panarin has got Trouba’s back.
“To be honest he is definitely the best choice on the Rangers currently out of anybody that could be captain,” Trouba said to NHL.com. “I’ve wanted him to be captain for quite a while so I’m very happy for him.
