OPPO showcases all-glass smartphone concept alongside next-gen mobile device tech prototypes

  • by

Most of OPPO’s freshly-completed Inno Day 2022 event consisted of debuts for products intended for an imminent release to the market. However, the OEM also put some of its concepts for devices that might come after them on display.

They include a smartphone made of glass, yet with no need for a frame to keep it together as normal. Despite this, it still has space for a USB type-C port cut into its bottom edge. The resulting ‘all-glass’ chassis (except for its rear camera hump, vaguely reminiscent of renders associated with the supposedly upcoming Find X6 Pro) has a particularly glossy, almost liquid appearance from the back.

OPPO did not display this prototype from the front, although it is possible it could do with the new punch-hole free, almost bezel-less smartphone screen on show next to it. This, then, could represent OPPO’s latest foray into under-display camera (UDC) tech, although it has yet to release one, not even in a device such as the new Find N2.

OPPO also showcased what could be its first-gen round-faced (and flat-screened) smartwatch, to go with its current Apple Watch-like offerings. The OEM gave no hint as to when any real-world devices based on this emerging technology might be available, however.
