Oliver Moore’s skating ability is one of the factors that has put the Minnesota native on NHL scouts’ radar – The Rink Live

MOUNDS VIEW, Minn. — Something you may not know about Oliver Moore is that he was a multi-sport athlete growing up. In addition to hockey, he also played basketball and soccer. That versatility helped him develop a competitive edge and helped make him into the athlete he is today playing for the United States National Team Development Program.

It’s a big season for Moore, as it’s his final campaign before the 2023 NHL Draft, where he is pinned as a top prospect. There is one area to Moore’s game that he thinks helped get him on scout’s radars.

“I think my skating ability is probably my biggest strength, separating from defensemen and using that to my advantage,” said Moore, who committed to the Minnesota Gophers last winter and formerly played high school hockey at Totino-Grace.

There are also a couple areas to his game that he is really looking to take to the next level this season. “Continuing to develop situational awareness, develop my down-low game, my defensive game, those three things are probably really the biggest.”
