With the matches all square, the competition moved on to a clash between Matt Fox and Jorga Newbold at the Frank Pennink designed course.
Matt Fox’s putt just lipped out to secure an Oakmere win with a terrific putt by Jorga Newbold.
It was an excellent contest between the golfers that came down to the wire.
A club spokesperson said that it was a super event to watch, the games were very close and there was some exciting golf played.
All players were commended for their behavior and their sportsmanship.
“Special thanks to our host Oakmere Junior Golf and NUGC county organizers for their support as well.”
It was Matt Fox’s final match for the juniors after playing several years for Norwood and the club wished him all the best in the future.
The junior pathway members at Norwood had been working on their technique during the week in the club.
They paid special attention to playing out of a bunker and learned skills on how to adapt their game.
Coaching concentrated on uphill, downhill, bare and fluffy lies and how they effect the behavior of the golf ball,
Coaching staff said that once the juniors had an understanding of these fundamentals, they would be able to adapt their game as needed.
