North Royalton graduate David Swab takes a sizable lead into the final round of Good Park Junior

David Swab shot a 2 under 69 Thursday to compile the top score in the Good Park Junior Golf Tournament at JE Good Park Golf Course in Akron.

Swab, a 2023 North Royalton High School graduate, is atop the boys championship flight, which consists of 12 golfers competing for a title to be awarded Friday after a final round of 18 holes.

Landon Blizzard heads into the final round in second place with a 77 and Cole Hostetler is third with a 78.

The other boys in the top 10 are Luke Butcher (82), Tyler Pickard (82), Caleb Fairhurst (85), Andrew Mamer (85), Nathan Sprutte (85), Matthew Kurtz (86) and Ted Hoover (87).

Hoover shot a 1 under 70 Wednesday to post the best boys score in the opening round.

The boys first flight leader is Preston Kieschnik (79) and the boys second flight leader is Michael Fahey (78).

North Canton Hoover teammates Halle Ellis and Ellie Hutzler put together the best rounds in the girls championships flight on Thursday, with Ellis carding an 81 and Hutzler posting an 84.

The other girls in the championship flight are Macey McGhee (87) and Caitrin Coyle (91).

The girls title will also be awarded on Friday after a final round of 18 holes.

McGhee, a rising junior at Independence, compiled the top girls score in Wednesday’s opening round with a 76.

The girls first flight leader is Frankie Hutzler (84).

Ted Hoover shot a 1 under 70 Wednesday to post the best score in the opening round of the Good Park Junior Golf Tournament at JE Good Park Golf Course in Akron.

Hoover, a 2023 Jackson High School graduate, is atop the boys championship flight, which consists of 12 golfers who will compete for a title with 18-hole rounds on Thursday and Friday at Good Park.

David Swab, a 2023 North Royalton High School graduate, carded the second-best round with a 72. Caleb Fairhurst and Matthew Kurtz each shot a 76. Fairhurst is a 2023 Tallmadge High School graduate and Kurtz is a rising senior at Stow.

The field of teenage boys is divided into five flights. The field of teenage girls is split into two flights.

Macey McGhee, a rising junior at Independence, compiled the top score on the girls side with a 76. The other girls in the championship flight with McGhee are North Canton Hoover’s Ellie Hutzler (78) and Halle Ellis (81) and St. Vincent-St. Mary’s Caitrin Coyle (85).
