Hockey fans, we are almost there. Summer is winding down and that means the NHL preseason is on the horizon.
It’s been a slow few weeks in the NHL offseason. After a busy beginning of July with the NHL Draft and beginning of NHL free agency, it’s been quiet on the news front. However, we now get a slight glimpse into what we can expect from the upcoming season.
Players have slowly started to report back to their practice facilities and have started skating with their teammates ahead of the 2022-23 season. Preseason games will be starting shortly, but first the rookies will report to camp.
Between rookie tournaments and preseason games, there’s a ton of exciting action to keep up with ahead of the official start of the regular season.

NHL training camp dates 2022
Almost every year, the start of training camp varies by team. There are certain rookie showcases that are happening this year that require rookies to report to camp a week early. Most of those are happening around Sept. 14-15.
Training camp does not officially start until the veterans report. As of now, most teams are having the entire team report by Sept. 21 or 22.

NHL rookie tournaments
Before the start of preseason games, certain teams give their rookies one more go to take the spotlight with rookie tournaments.
There are three scheduled to happen this fall, as teams have their rookies compete in games against other clubs’ top prospects. Veterans are required to report to camp before the games will be completed.
Here are the scheduled rookie tournaments for this preseason.

NHL training camp locations 2022
Each NHL team will begin preseason camp at its training facility, which are different from the normal game rinks.
Clubs have practice facilities that teams will use not just for in-season practice, but for offseason activities as well. Most are in the same state where the team plays.
