NHL Thursday props: Finding plus-money bets on a packed night

While Drake Batherson and Brady Tkachuk both look like great options, I’m opting for DeBrincat’s shots given the plus-money we can grab it at. He’s over 3.5 in four of six games this year, and each time he hits he’s finished with 5+ on net. The attempts are strong, and knowing he’s so involved on the power play and the Wild’s issues with penalties, there’s plenty to like.

.5u: Brady Tkachuk goal (+190 DK)

So, we like DeBrincat to shoot and Tkachuk to score? It feels like the best way to spread the net. Brady Tkachuk has five goals this season, including three in his last two, and he scored when he last faced Minnesota.

Minnesota has allowed 4.7 goals per game, and Ottawa has averaged 4.2 scores per game, making this one of the juicier spots to look for a goal-scoring prop. Tkachuk has settled himself in the power play near the net, giving him the scoring opportunities we want to see.

Patrick Kane over 3.5 SOG (+110 DK)

I’m very drawn to a big Patrick Kane game tonight, despite him going over this 3.5 total only twice so far this season.

Kane will see Edmonton on their second night of a back-to-back, and the Oilers are allowing nearly 34 shots per game this season. Edmonton has also been loose with penalties, handing out the sixth-most power play opportunities per game.

That’s where Kane typically thrives. He was fifth in the NHL last season in power play shots and has been one of the focal points of the Blackhawks PP once again this year.

Kane has 20 shot attempts over his past three games and in three games against Edmonton last season, he went over 3.5 each time, averaging 5.0 shots/game.

I love this value on Kane’s shots in a game he should get plenty of chances.

.5u: Patrick Kane goal (+235 CZR)

Let’s stay with Kane. If I like him to shoot, logic extends that one can find the back of the net. With the Oilers allowing 3.0 goals per game and likely trotting out Jack Campbell, who has allowed 3+ goals in four of his five starts, the Blackhawks should find some goals.

We mentioned that Edmonton hands out plenty of power play opportunities, but they pair that with a horrid penalty killing unit (sixth-worst in the league). This very well could come on the power play for Kane.

The Blackhawks shooter just netted his first goal of the year on Tuesday, so here’s to a hot streak starting.

Alex Ovechkin over 3.5 SOG & Matt Duchene over 2.5 SOG (+186 CZR)

We’ll keep this combo relatively simple. Ovechkin gets Dallas tonight, allowing the team the most power play opportunities per game.

Ovi is second in the NHL with 14 PP shots, and over this 3.5 mark in four of his last six. He averaged 4.0 shots/game in two meetings against Dallas last season, and he’s averaging over seven attempts per game this season.
