Brent Burns over 2.5 shots on goal +105 (BetMGM)

After 11 seasons with the San Jose Sharks, Burns was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes this offseason. Tonight, he’ll make his return to the Shark Tank with his new team. Burns has always been a shoot-first type of defenseman and fits in perfectly with a Hurricanes team that is all about getting pucks on net. 2.5 is just too low of a number for a guy that should be motivated against his former squad as well

Elmer Soderblom over 0.5 goals +520 (FanDuel)

Admittedly, this is a long-shot play and really only a site-specific one. Some of the other sportsbooks have Soderblom at +130 to score anytime. It’s a surprising number for a player that is expected to be a depth forward to start the year for Detroit. However, the towering forward scored 21 goals in the Swedish Hockey League last year and had two goals during the preseason including a beautiful one against the Maple Leafs.

Nikolaj Ehlers over 0.5 power play points +325 (bet365)

The New York Rangers have been road warriors early this season as they’ll be playing their third game in four nights and second half of a back-to-back tonight in Winnipeg. The Jets will play their home opener against a tired Rangers squad and with that, I think that opens the door for some power play opportunities for Winnipeg. Ehlers is arguably the most talented offensive player on the Jets and should play a pivotal role on the man-advantage.
