Ottawa Senators are up for SALE amid reported interest from Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds… but any bidder must agree to keep the NHL franchise in Canada’s capital.
The Ottawa Senators are officially for sale – but only on the condition that the NHL franchise remains in Canada’s capital city.
Senators Sports & Entertainment put the team on the market Friday, stipulating that any prospective buyer would have to agree not to relocate the club.
Team chairman Sheldon Plener said it is ‘a necessary and prudent step to connect with those deeply interested parties who can show us what their vision is for the future of the team.’
Galatioto Sports Partners has been retained as a financial adviser to facilitate the sale.
The team said it would have no further comment at this time.

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds is reportedly interested in buying the NHL team
One potential buyer has already been identified in the media, actor Ryan Reynolds, and he is reportedly keen on keeping the team in Ottawa.
The Hollywood star and fellow actor Rob McElhenney took over English football’s fifth-tier side Wrexham in February 2021 following a $2.76 million deal.
And now Reynolds, from Vancouver, Canada, could fly solo to purchase the Senators, according to People.
A representative for Reynolds declined to comment to People. Dailymail.com has reached out to Reynolds’ representatives and the Senators for comment.

Reynolds did not rule out the possibility when approached on the matter by a fan on Twitter.
One Senators supporter said: ‘Ottawa Senators are for sale… Come be our owner.’

Anna and Olivia Melnyk took over the Senators following the death of their father and owner Eugene Melnyk in March.
He had owned the Senators since 2003, when he bought the NHL club for $92 million.
After Melnyk bought the Senators, Rod Bryden’s deal to reacquire the franchise was unsuccessful.
Jeffrey and Michael Kimel, based in Toronto, could be other bidders for the Senators, according to the Ottawa Sun.
