It’s just two games into the new season, and the New Jersey Devils are already in a bit of a pickle. They checked into the 2022-23 NHL season with raised expectations after a second consecutive busy offseason and a handful of young players primed for breakout campaigns. After losses to the Flyers and Red Wings, the outlook on the season has changed.
It’s never a good thing when fans chant for a coach to be fired, but it’s especially worrisome when it comes at the home opener.

The Devils have a chance to ease the tension against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. New Jersey is a big favorite, the better team, and the Ducks played on Monday night in Manhattan. Everything sets up for the Devils to get right against Anaheim.
Unfortunately, the Devils have proven over the past few seasons that they just can’t be trusted as big favorites because of their inability to keep the puck out of their own net. A problem that has followed New Jersey into the early days of a new season.
Betting on the NHL?
Thus far, the Devils have allowed 10 goals on 76 shots, which puts their team save percentage at .787 through two games. That number will obviously improve, but it just shows that until the Devils get their issues sorted in goal, they’re going to be vulnerable favorites.
You’ll get a great number on the Ducks on Tuesday night, so grab the value.
