NHL legend Bobby Hull dies at age 84

According to Arun Srinivasan of Yahoo! Sports on Monday, hockey legend Bobby Hull of Belleville, Ontario passed away at the age of 84 on Monday. Hull played 16 National Hockey League seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks, Winnipeg Jets, and Hartford Whalers. He also spent seven seasons with the Jets in the World Hockey Association.

In 1063 games in the NHL, Hull had 610 goals and 560 assists for 1170 points. He had 634 penalty minutes, 324 power-play points, 98 game-winning goals and 29 shorthanded points.

During Hull’s career, several times he led the NHL in single season categories. Hull had the most goals during a single season seven times. He had 39 goals in 1959-60, 50 goals in 1961-62, 43 goals in 1963-64, 54 goals in 1965-66, 52 goals in 1966-67, 44 goals in 1967-68, and 58 goals in 1968- 69. Hull also led the NHL in points three times. He had 81 points in 1959-60, 84 points in 1961-62, and 97 points in 1965-66.

Hull led the NHL with 22 power-play goals in 1965-66, and 20 power-play goals in 1968-69. He also led the NHL with four shorthanded goals in 1963-64, 11 game-winning goals in 1968-69, and eight game-winning goals in 1969-70. When shots on goal were first kept in 1959-60, Hull led the NHL in that category seven times. He had 375 shots on goal in 1961-62, 408 shots on goal in 1963-64, 368 shots on goal in 1964-65, 351 shots on goal in 1965-66, 320 shots on goal in 1966-67, 367 shots on goal. goal in 1967-68, and 414 shots on goal in 1968-69.

In 1965, Hull won the Hart Trophy and Lady Byng Trophy, and the Hart Trophy again in 1966. He was also selected to 12 NHL All-Star games every year from 1960 to 1972.
