Can’t you just freeze it? NHL game between the Predators and Avalanche is postponed due to water main break that floods Nashville’s arena with ‘3 inches to 3 feet’ of liquid.
Water is considered to be the most destructive force on the planet – and not even the NHL schedule is safe.
Friday’s game between the Nashville Predators and the Colorado Avalanche has been postponed because of a water main break that has soaked the downtown arena. The NHL said the water main break has ‘significantly impacted the event level’ of Bridgestone Arena. Team locker rooms and the ice surface are on the event level.
Predators President and CEO Sean Henry told reporters that the water level in the event ranged from 3 inches to 3 feet.

The team was forced to close the store until further notice following the water main break
Video posted by a WTVF-TV reporter shows the water puddled up on the main floor’s concourse area and the team store.
Local reporter Chris Davis removed his shoes and waded into the water barefoot
‘We’re assessing it right now. We’re remediating it,’ Henry said. ‘The good thing is, the water got shut off, the city responded in a pretty fast manner. I don’t think anyone is ready for things like this the Friday after Thanksgiving.’

Water is currently being pumped out of the building through underground tunnels beneath the arena.
Henry was asked about the costs of repairs, but did not offer any speculation.
‘Right now, it’s not even about that, it’s about getting everything dry as fast as possible, it’s gonna be expensive obviously… but the real focus for us right now is assessing the building and getting it ready for our events as soon as possible, ‘ said Henry.
Scott Potter, the director of Nashville Metro Water, said he did not know what caused the main to break, but estimated that the pipes were installed in the mid-1990s, when the arena was originally being erected.
The team was forced to close the store until further notice, pointing shoppers online for Black Friday specials.
A makeup date for Friday’s game against Colorado and Friday’s against the Columbus Blue Jackets will be announced later.
The NHL’s was not the only hockey game postponed by the water main break. Friday evening’s Music City Hockey Classic featuring Northeastern and Western Michigan will also need to be rescheduled.
