Josh Manson will be out week to week for the Avalanche with a lower-body injury.

The defenseman was injured in a 6-4 win against the Buffalo Sabers on Thursday. He has six points (two goals, four assists) in 21 games this season, l

Andreas Englund was recalled from Colorado of the American Hockey League and will play at the Boston Bruins on Saturday (7 pm ET; NESN, ALT, ESPN+, SN NOW).

Carolina Hurricanes

Teuvo Teravainen could return for the Hurricanes on Saturday one day after the forward was activated off injured reserve.

Teravainen, who has missed the past 10 games with an upper-body injury, has seven assists in 14 games this season.

Carolina plays at the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday (10:30 pm ET; BSW, BSSO, ESPN+, SN NOW).

Vegas Golden Knights

Alex Pietrangelo will likely remain out for the Golden Knights against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday (7 pm ET; BSDET, ATTSN-RM, ESPN+, SN NOW).

The defenseman did not play for the Golden Knights in a 4-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday because of personal reasons and also missed a 3-2 shootout win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.

Pietrangelo leads Vegas in time on ice per game (23:39) and assists (18) and is second in points (21) behind Jack Eichel (28).

Philadelphia Flyers

Cam Atkinson said he feels he’s getting closer to making his season debut, but the forward remains day to day because of an upper-body injury.

Atkinson said he’s been fully cleared for contact and is not restricted in any way.

“It’s obviously good to be back with everyone and take a little bit of licks and see how I do,” he said Saturday. “Just day to day for me right now.

“It’s been pretty good. A little bit of an adjustment but just working out the kinks. I’m getting close, but not enough to where I think I can help this team right now. But I’m closer than not.”

Atkinson was second on the Flyers last season in goals (23) and points (50). The Flyers entered their game against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday (7 pm ET; NBCSP, MSGSN, ESPN+, SN NOW) averaging 2.38 goals per game, fewest in the NHL.

He said the nature of his injury has allowed him to skate and stay in shape that way but said it might take a game or two for him to get his timing with the puck back to normal.

“If I was playing and if we had a day off, even one day off, even if I played 30 games and I took a day off, I still feel like that next practice my timing is just a little bit off,” he said. . “Maybe it’s more mental than not. So obviously not playing any games it’s going to take a game or two to get adjusted, but we’re on a pretty good schedule for me right now. I’ve revved it up a lot and I ‘m feeling good. I feel like my timing is pretty solid, but you really won’t know until you play a game.” — Adam Kimelman

Toronto Maple Leafs

Calle Jarnkrok will miss at least two weeks for the Maple Leafs with a groin injury.

The forward was injured in a 3-1 win against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. He played 9:04 before leaving in the second period.

“He’s going to be at least two weeks and we’ll kind of take it from there,” coach Sheldon Keefe said. “He won’t travel with us here, we’ll see where he is once we return and that will give us a better sense maybe of what it looks like beyond that.”

Toronto begins a two-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday (7 pm ET; NHLN, SN, BSSUN, SN NOW) and continues at the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

Jarnkrok has nine points (five goals, four assists) in 25 games this season.

TJ Brodie will travel with the Maple Leafs on the road trip but is not expected to play. The defenseman has missed the past 10 games with an oblique injury.

“He’s progressing well,” Keefe said. “Not necessarily expecting him to play on this trip but we do have a practice day in Dallas and obviously morning skates, I think we will see him more involved in regular team activities.”
