NHL 23 is coming this October 14th, bringing the latest iteration of the ice hockey series to consoles.
no NHL 23 is still not coming to PC; according to EA, “There are no plans for a PC version due to hockey having a very small PC community.” But if you’re an Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 owner, you could be in for a treat.
Granted, you shouldn’t expect it to be vastly different from NHL 22, but there is one neat feature coming this year that should make it easier to crush your opp.. er, play in an entirely fair fashion. Cross-platform play is now a thing, although it only works across generations. So PS4 players can play PS4 and Xbox One players, while PS5 players can play against PS5 players and Xbox Series X|S players.
Ultimate Team mode will also support mixed men and women’s teams which, we’re happy to report, hasn’t ignited a Twitterstorm of Hatred (yet). That said, Ultimate Team mode still features in-game purchases, so we’re not going to give EA a pat on the pack.
EA has also, through the PlayStation Blog, revealed that the game will feature not one but two cover stars. The stars in question are Canadian national team forward Sarah Nurse and Anaheim Ducks center Trevor Zegras, who we’re definitely not going to refer to as discount Matt Smith.
You can get your hands on NHL 23 when it hits PlayStation and Xbox this October 14th. It’ll be available as a Standard Edition or an X-Factor Edition that gives you dual-generation entitlement (you can find out more here).
