A brawl that broke out at a high school football game in Texas turned so ugly in the final minutes that every single player was ejected and the game was called off.

According to the Star Telegram, the game between Dallas Roosevelt High School and Fort Worth Eastern Hills High School was called with 6:44 left to play when the two teams appeared to spar on the field, including spectators and others.

Eastern Hills was up 35-12 at the time, The New York Post reports.

It’s unclear why the fight broke out. Fans can be seen hopping the fence and running onto the field as referees and coaching staff attempted to de-escalate the situation.

“Fans, don’t jump into this brawl,” the game’s announcer can be heard saying, before calling for a trainer to tend to a “hurt” player on the field.

“We need security out here please,” the announcer said.

At one point in the video footage, someone can be seen tossing a players’ helmet into the bleachers.

Dean Pritchett, the Fort Worth ISD assistant athletic director, said every player was ejected from the game, according to the Star Telegram. Dallas Roosevelt will play their JV team for the first half of its next game as an ejection comes with an automatic suspension for the first half of the next game.

The Dallas Independent School District said in a statement that the incident is under investigation.

“The UIL is aware of the incident involving Fort Worth Eastern Hills and Dallas Roosevelt high school students during a football game on Friday September 8, 2022,” the Dallas Independent School District said in a statement, per USA Today.
