NFL Style Rankings: Teammates coordinate, and monochromatic fits win big

  • by

Everyone wins when teammates coordinate their outfits. One of my favorite things about team coverage is being around the players when they’re having fun, and I can tell you from experience that when they exactly match their clothes either in style, color or theme, they’re having a lot of fun . Some may be shocked to know this, but a lot of thought goes into it — what to wear, when to arrive, what’s the theme?

In Week 10, we had a couple of different varieties of NFL teammates matching on display. They were all brilliant — obviously, they’re in the ranking — but which set of players did the best job with this category?

The Denver Broncos kicker and linebackers (left to right) look like they’ve got the horses in the back, and they’re about to take them to the old town road until they can’t ride anymore. I’m a sucker for when Broncos players wear anything that alludes to cowboy culture or style.

I can also appreciate that these three coordinated their fits to match. I’d love to be a fly on the wall for how they landed on this particular fit.

If this isn’t giving hooded Kermit vibes, I don’t know what does. This burnt orange Louis Vuitton jacket is absolutely gorgeous. It never ceases to amaze me the range the fashion house has with its apparel.

Flower child, beautiful child, the San Francisco 49ers receiver was in the zone ahead of the team’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. More people should take the time to smell the flowers like Samuel does here. The lilac-and-teal color combination is so gratifying to look at.

After missing time from a Week 1 knee injury, the 49ers running back returned to action in style with this dazzling chain. On an otherwise laid-back outfit, this piece of jewelry is proudly the main character and showstopper. The black turtleneck with the burgundy-red vest are merely background singers to the star performer.

6. Tyler Smith

This is a pastel dream. The pink coat married with the muted lavender pants, white dress shirt and Stan Smiths is simple, yet very appealing. The Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman wins big by keeping things easy and straightforward with this combination.

This deep-sea blue suit is marvelous. Oh, my goodness.

The Detroit Lions cornerback could have moved a little higher in the rankings had he paired this with a tie of an equal blue shade. That said, this is still a fantastic fit all around. If the suit had been black, I would have had a “Men in Black” commentary, but the gist is that Okudah looks well put together and fresh with this one.

Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? The Seattle Seahawks receiver gets points for bucking the status quo and delivering an eye-catching outfit ahead of the NFL’s first game in Munich.

Talk about styling and profiling. This is such a clean fit, especially because all of the whites — from head to toe and down to the bag — match almost perfectly.

Bonjour, Monsieur Hubbard!

Let’s talk about how chic the Carolina Panthers running back looked in his return for “Thursday Night Football.” This man knew he was doing big things with his leather green jacket, high water pants, beret, sunglasses and Cuban link chain. I will say I would have preferred socks that go above the ankles or no socks, but those are my preferences when it comes to ankle exposure. I actually like wearing the white tank top versus a dress shirt in this situation, though.

I’m almost curious whether the Seattle receiving corps decided to wear monochromatic suits for Sunday’s international contest. Goodwin above is wearing all white, and Metcalf strolled in with this beautiful, full-length denim coat and his nearly all-blue fit.

I wish Metcalf had continued the theme down to his shoes, but he elected to wear the white-and-black Stan Smiths instead. It looks good, but they have the same shoes with a similar blue on the back.

The pink in the turtleneck is a perfect match to the color in Woods’ double-breasted suit jacket, and I am here for this level of coordination. The Lions linebacker not only matched the colors but also brought in a finely tailored suit.

It’s so calm in color that the chain with a “W” representing the first initial of his last name has a chance to shine brightly in this photo. His shades even have a red undertone to keep everything in this outfit in the same color family. Bravo!
