Jerry Jeudy had arguably his best game as a pro last week against Kansas City, hauling in 8 catches for 73 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-28 Broncos’ loss.
His breakout performance, however, has come at a cost.
No, Jeudy isn’t injured – he’s being fined.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL has fined Jeudy $23,030 for an outburst during Week 14 – one which saw the receiver bump an official and take off his helmet on the field.
“League source: NFL fined Broncos’ WR Jerry Jeudy $23,030 for making contact with an official during Sunday’s game vs. the Chiefs,” Schefter tweeted Friday.
Clearly frustrated, Jeudy could be seen ripping off his helmet and storming towards the sidelines where, purposefully or not, he made contact with an official. Here’s a video of the incident.
After the game, Jeudy explained that the blowup was due to an uncalled holding penalty on the previous play.
“I was just — on that certain play, I got held. I was just frustrated because we didn’t have things going, so I was out there playing with frustration wanting to make a play for my team,” said Jeudy. “I feel like at that point, I was just held and that should’ve been called but I have to know how to control my anger and just move on from there.”
The Broncos, 3-10, have lost five straight games and nine of their past ten. After last Sunday’s defeat, they now sit at #30 in Athlon’s NFL Power Rankings.
Denver will look to build momentum heading into next season with a strong finish to their 2022 campaign, starting with a Week 15 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
