NexDock Wireless: Nex Computer announces refreshed NexDock laptop dock with wireless connectivity

Nex Computer has announced a new iteration of the NexDock, a series of laptop docks that it has been offering for over five years. While all previous models relied on a physical connection with a smartphone, the NexDock Wireless negates this requirement entirely. The NexDock Wireless remains compatible with a wired connection over USB Type-C, although the NexDock 360 may be a better solution if that is your only use case.

In short, the NexDock Wireless carries over all core NexDock 360 features but adds wireless connectivity. Hence, the 13.3-inch IPS and 1080p display remains, as do the twin USB Type-C ports, 3.5 mm headphone jack, MicroSD card reader and 1 W quad-speaker array. For reference, the display peaks at 300 nits, which is relatively dim by modern laptop standards.

According to Nex Computer, the NexDock Wireless utilizes MiraCast to bring the likes of Samsung DeX to its 13.3-inch display. Meanwhile, the laptop dock’s keyboard and trackpad connect using Bluetooth. Unfortunately, Nex Computer has not provided any latency statistics when using the two technologies simultaneously. The NexDock Wireless is already orderable, albeit only in the US for now. Nex Computer charges US$349 for the NexDock Wireless at launch, US$50 more than the NexDock 360.
