New York Jets wide receivers coach Miles Austin ‘SUSPENDED by the NFL for a year after allegedly breaching gambling rules’ but is appealing against the decision
The NFL has suspended New York Jets wide receivers coach Miles Austin for a year for allegedly violating the league’s gambling policy, according to several reports on Friday evening.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, there is no suggestion Austin has bet on NFL games but he apparently did so on other sports, which is a breach of the NFL’s gambling policy.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Miles is appealing against the decision.
The Jets lost 19-3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night and Miles did not coach in that game and according to ESPN, has not been with the Jets since Tuesday.

Miles is the second high-profile NFL suspension this year due to gambling, after Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons was banned in March for betting on NFL games in 2021.
Ridley has been suspended for the entirety of the 2022 season but in that time, has been traded to the Jaguars – who he will return to next year.
The Jets are next in action on New Year’s Day against the Seattle Seahawks.
